Today

In our house this day is not celebrated with cliche roses, scary stuffed chocolates, and over sized stuffed animals. We have only been on a date once on this day before. We have never exchanged diamonds and gold on this day.

This day has occasionally in the past seen red paper heart cut-outs on the wall, heart shaped pancakes, and fun pink and red candies in a dish on the counter. But this day is not one filled with expectations.

This day serves only to remind us of the love we already have surrounding us. The feel of chubby little hands around our necks, and pb&j kisses on our cheeks. Our hands in each others, and falling asleep by the one we love. This is a day we thank God for because it is one more we have together.
