First Thanksgiving!

Let me tell you about this cool day I just had called Thanksgiving! I had a blast! Mommy and Daddy explained about having a thankful heart and expressing our thanksgiving to the Lord for His provisions in our lives. We celebrated this day by spending it with family. Then I got to try a bunch of neat new foods! When I woke up and had breakfast everyone told me not to eat too much- there were better foods to fill up on later in the day...boy were they right!
Well, maybe...we are going to eat that? I'm not so sure about that...
Hmmm, ok not too bad...
Ok, what is everyone looking at? I'm just being incredibly cute trying all these new foods at my first Thanksgiving.
Ok Dad, what are you eating? Why aren't you giving me any? Can I try some of that?
Oh yum, I get to feed myself! I like this stuff!
Ok, that was a lot of food- I'm stuffed! Nap time!

My Boy

November 21 marked one year since I felt a flood of emotion I could never begin to describe. It's been one year since I heard the words, "You're having a boy!"
One year since I started pondering how to be a mother of a future leader,
conqueror, provider, a man. One year since I prayed for my boy the first time knowing who he was. One year since I fell in love with my boy in an instant. One year of many more, my boy. I love you!
I thank my God every time I think of you! In all my prayers for you, I pray with
joy because of your participation in the gospel from the first day until now!
For I am confident in this, he who began a good work in you, will complete it
until the day of Jesus Christ!

Sit on Tack

Every young child in Sunday School learned "Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy Down in My Heart". Of course, every child's favorite verse was singing about the Devil not liking the fact that we have that joy in our hearts and telling him to go sit on a tack. Well, Harrison is no different...
Disclaimer: I am not a singer, nor do I profess to be- you have been warned.

Let There Be Pizza on Earth

I know you all remember when Harrison raided the fridge last time. I guess he wasn't finished with his escapades! While I was busy fixing breakfast I noticed Harrison had gotten into the fridge when I grabbed the milk out, but hardly paid attention while I heard him rummaging around in there. A few seconds later I saw a pizza crust come rolling out from under the door! I looked in the fridge to see this! I guess he couldn't wait for me to finish fixing his breakfast, but then again, maybe he wanted pizza instead of oatmeal?
"Hey, where do you guys keep the garlic butter dipping sauce?" I had no idea Harrison could figure out how to get to the food in the fridge; I'm thinking I'm going to have my hands full!
"Now all I need is a coke to wash this down with!"
Harrison, you are too much! Time for your real breakfast

Throwback Thursday

Celebrating our past and blessings along the way!
Join us for Throwback Thursday! My whole life I had wanted to visit Florida. Something about the allure of sunshine, tropics, and white sand just captivated me. When I fell in love with Matt he was a student at Palm Beach Atlantic University, in, you guessed it- Florida! Since Matt has many wonderful friends in Florida we have been blessed to visit that beautiful state many times. This particular trip was in 2006 and it was the first time for us both to see the Gulf Coast! Perdido Key was a white sand wonder with crystal clear water and an eerily silent beach. Hurricane Katrina had come through the fall before and destroyed the resort community. This beautiful paradise lay silent and unvisited by the hundreds of tourists from summer's past. They beauty was still there, but the buildings were gone.
Harrison, sometimes we will go through our own hurricanes in life. The storms of life will wreck our own man made improvements of ourselves. What will be left when the wind dies down? Will your true beauty, the inner you, be left standing as a foundation? Don't ever let the secret wonder of you be hidden behind man's idea of what's excepted. Always stand firm on the creation of you and the wonder of it! I love you!

How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of
them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of
sand. When I awake, I am still with you.

Psalm 139:17-18

Independence Play

After all that rain last week we took full advantage of the perfect fall weather and took Harrison out to play. All I can say is, he is ALL boy! This guy knew no fear as he climbed and tumbled over hurdles and down poles and slides. I love this little man! Watch me scale Mt. Playground! Climbing all by myself... Almost there... Reaching the summit! Top of the slide! Watch me Dad- I can do it myself! Down the fire pole- I like playing fireman! Going up the stairs by myself...
It's almost time to go Harrison, you can do one more thing before you leave. What would you like to do?
Up the stairs again, all by myself!

Singing In The Dark

Harrison loves music and he loves to sing. Usually I am driving and not capable of filming his singing to the radio. During our recent power outage though I finally caught him happily singing to a song one of his toys plays. The video is a little dark, well, because it was, with no electricity, but still very cute!

Lights Out!

Due to the lovely weather we have been having, Harrison experienced his first power outage. Harrison and I were home alone when it happened and caught very unprepared when the house plummeted into darkness. I am a very blessed momma to have such a brave little man to take care of me! The little guy just whimpered once, but once he knew I was still there, he sat still in his seat as I blindly stumbled through the house to find out oil lamp. Once lit, he happily continued eating and laughing as if nothing was out of the ordinary! He even sang songs with me and had a fun wrestle match on the floor. Then my little brave guy went down to sleep without a sound! You guys! Is that not the coolest lamp you have ever seen!
The coolest part of all of this is when mom strikes up a match- awesome does not even begin to describe the excitement I get seeing fire. It's a boy thing.
I think my sippy cup adds a nice touch to the candle lit atmosphere.
Mom, we should have these "Lights Out" nights more often! This is a blast!

Staking New Territory

It has been ingrained in men since the dawn of time to explore, conquer new lands, forge rivers, brave the unknown, and stake their claims. How can my little man be any different. He bravely battles many elements and hurdles to grasp the impossible, such as... ...the wild wilderness under the table!
(The front view...

...the back view.)

Fighting chair rungs and table legs! What a pioneer! Blazing his trail using Duplos to mark his way- Harrison's toy trails can be followed for miles through the wilderness, house. All he needs is his coonskin cap and rifle.

Harrison Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier!
