37 Weeks

(Harrison wanted to take a belly shot with me! Makes me crack up laughing!)
Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 37 Weeks
Size of Baby: 6 1/2 lbs to 7lbs and around 20 inches long
Weight Gain/Loss: A total gain of 14lbs so far
Gender: Boy - Jefferson Lee
Movement: Poor little guy seems so squished in there these days. He rolls and stretches, but he feels so compact and really curled up.
Maternity Clothes: Still a mix of tops and maternity shorts and capris
Cravings: Still not much of an appetite, really enjoying my nightly ice cream though! :)
Symptoms: Well at my doctor's appointment on Monday I was 5cm dilated! It feels so weird because if I hadn't gone to the doctor I never would have known it's almost baby time! She said we will most likely have a baby this week! I go again Friday morning morning because my doctor is not sure I'm making it through the weekend. We will see, it's really up to God when Jefferson's birthday is!
Best Moment of The Week: Having my family here to wait for Jefferson's arrival!
A picture of big brother Harrison right after he was born and was getting measured. He was 18 inches long and 7lbs even so it will be interesting to see what size Jefferson is!

Little Monkey

Ever since Harrison could stand he has never been content to stay on ground level. It's like babies are programed to climb. Why keep your feet on the ground when they can be on chairs, tables, couches, cabinets, and counters? What I find somewhat alarming and amusing is that these climbing enthusiasts have no fear or respect of gravity. They only want to keep going up and have no thought about what happens if they were to tumble from their perch.
Harrison is now well acquainted with gravity, having met on several occasions resulting in scrapes and bruises of all kinds. But even that has not stopped this guy from going up and up. Now that he is bigger he looks for bigger conquests. Chairs and cabinets are so for little kids, this big guy is on to better things. I think I can see rock wall climbing in our future!

36 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 36 Weeks
Size of Baby: About 6lbs and up to 20" long
Weight Gain/Loss: I lost 2lbs this past week, but Jefferson is growing so the doctor is not worried.
Gender: Boy - Jefferson Lee
Movement: Lots of twisting and pushing. Feels like he is getting quite a leg work out in there! He is pretty low now so I'm getting all kinds of uncomfortable jabs!
Maternity Clothes: Still a mix of tops, and dresses and maternity shorts and capris
Cravings: Still not much of an appetite. I am staying super thirsty all the time now and feel like I drink enough to fill a swimming pool!
Symptoms: At my doctor's appointment yesterday I was 4cm dilated! I was pretty surprised, but as the doctor said, I pretty much have half of the work behind me once real labor starts. She guesses we will be meeting Jefferson within a week to a week and half! Contractions are becoming more frequent but nothing that has made me stop to time them.
Best Moment of The Week: Going through all of Harrison's infant clothing to get them organized for Jefferson. So much fun remembering Harrison as a baby and fun to think about Jefferson wearing them very soon!
Big brother with his beloved dump truck, about the length of Jefferson this week.

Pretty in Pink Dirt

I think for the most part I'm pretty good at getting my hands dirty, getting sweaty, catching bugs, and playing sports. But my deep down self is well, lack of a better word, girly. I would be so happy to spend the day getting pampered, nails painted, relaxing massages, sparkling water in a dainty little glass.
I like having my hair in place, my outfits accessorized, my purses organized, and lip gloss handy. And here I am, all pink and girly, surrounded by three testosterone driven males. My days are filled scrubbing dirt from every nook and cranny, washing scrapes and cuts that he hardly notices, wild tackling and wrestling matches, and whooping and hollering down the hall.
These wild and crazy men make everything a competition, they preform feats of strength, they fight to the finish, and they conquer their foes. They make weapons from anything lying around, and win every battle. And even though there is no one in this house who shares my love of being pampered and polished, prissy and in pink, I wouldn't have it any other way.
I have three men who adore my cooking, who appreciate their cleaned and ironed clothes, who need my care and nurturing when they are sick or down, and love the feminine attention I pour on their imaginary and real achievements. I don't think there's a better feeling in the world than to know I have three men who are there to protect me and take care of me. So I gladly will trade my manicure in for dirt under my nails as I make dirt bombs in the yard with my boys.

Lasts and Firsts

Matt and I had a realization on Friday night...this is our last weekend ever as just the three of us. No, we aren't having a baby this week...let me explain. Next weekend, Matt has to work, then after that my family will be here to begin the "wait for baby" visit. This weekend is the last we will have as just us and that created a whole array of different feelings. It made me want to organize all the baby clothes, spend every second with Harrison, run out to the store with the ease of just one child, dream about Jefferson being here, get scared about the changes, get excited about the changes, hold onto the present, and look forward to the future all at the same time.
Is it weird for me to not want to let go of this time with just Harrison and at the same so excitedly look forward to having both my boys? If we have learned anything with these "lasts" before new "firsts" begin, it is to cherish and savor every moment...they go fast.

35 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights
At the doctor yesterday we found out I am 2cm dilated and 60% effaced. As she pointed out, women can go for weeks like this, but she said better to play it safe and plan for an early arrival!

How Far Along: 35 Weeks
Size of Baby: 19-20 inches and about 5 1/2lbs. Harrison was only 18" and 7lbs at birth so I have no idea really how big Jefferson is now, these are just averages. Most babies have reached their length at this point and are just busy building up their cute baby rolls.
Weight Gain/Loss: (UPDATE) Jefferson and I did grow in the last few weeks! We gained three pounds for a grand total of 15lbs so far! Last time I went to the doctor it was 12lbs, but I go again tomorrow so we will see how that has changed! I feel like this little guy has grown a ton and that there is not much more space in there!
Gender: Boy - Jefferson Lee
Movement: He is rolling and stretching still. I think he has dropped as his feet don't reach my ribs anymore. I feel most of his movements lower in my tummy. He is still extremely active late at night and right after I work out.
Maternity Clothes: Still a mix of tops and dresses, and maternity shorts and capris
Cravings: Still lacking an appetite, nothing sounds good and I don't really get hungry, but late at night, I still want a huge mug of sherbet ice cream...maybe that's what makes him so hyper so late? :)
Symptoms: Like I said, he has definitely dropped and I'm feeling more pressure lower. Nesting reached an all time high this week as I scrubbed the kitchen trashcan, disinfected all toys, and made a bazillion lists of things I still need to get!
Best Moment of The Week: Getting to hear his strong little heartbeat every week now is quickly becoming a favorite! I am really getting excited about meeting our little guy!
Big brother Harrison with his beloved car ramp which is 19" long, about the length of Jefferson this week.

God Gave Me You

I've been a walking heartache, I've made a mess of me

The person I've been lately, is not who I want to be. But you stay here right beside me, watch as the storm goes through...and I need you. God gave me you for the ups and downs.

God gave me you for the days of doubt...

For when I think I've lost my way, there are no words left to say it's true...God game me you. There's more here than what we're seeing, a divine conspiracy. That you could somehow fall, for someone like me. You'll always be love's great martyr, I'll be the flattered fool..and I need you. God gave me you for the ups and downs. God gave me you for the days of doubt. On my own I'm only half of what I could's true...God gave me you.

Happy Birthday to my amazing husband, you are the man of my dreams, you serve and love with a Christ centered heart, you sweep me off my feet daily and I am blessed to be your love. Happy Birthday to the incredible father of our boys. You are a man after God's own heart for them to emulate and follow after. You lead with love and teach respect with gently authority. You are the greatest man to raise men. I hope your day is incredible, your year is blessed beyond measure, and you will overflow with the return of all you do for your family and friends! I love you!

Why it is called touch-a-truck I have no idea, because you don't just touch "a truck", you touch 50 trucks! It's every little boy's dreamland and this little man was in heaven! We started off the event with a Peterbuilt, which thanks to the movie "Cars" Harrison identified right away and was in complete awe of!
The driver even let him blow the horn, which after calming down from scaring himself, Harrison thought was pretty cool.
Afterwards he scored some stickers and buttons for being such a truck enthusiast.
He quickly transitioned from truck to motorcycle as his wide eyes took in the police motorcycle. Harrison admitted to the cop that he would drive it fast! Haha!
I can only imagine what these trucks went through after thousands of curious kids climbed on, in, through, and over each vehicle thoroughly inspecting every inch.
I don't think there was a lever left un-pulled, a button left un-pushed, or a knob left un-turned.
These sacrificial trucks probably went haywire with lights, sirens, noises, blinkers, and ticking, once turned on to move later that night.
Besides the fact that is was 100 degrees, Harrison had a blast and we did too watching him enjoy himself. I can't wait to take both my boys to Touch-A-(Ton-Of)-Trucks!

The Littlest Brave

Harrison's favorite part of the baseball game was when everyone would chant the Brave's war cry. I love his little man war cry!

33 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 33 Weeks
Size of Baby: Just under 18 inches and weighs around 5lbs (Hard to believe I have the equivalents of a bag of sugar in there!)

Weight Gain/Loss: 12 lbs still, but with this little guy putting on a half pound to 1 pound every week we should be growing fast. We'll find out at our appointment next week!
Gender: Boy - Jefferson Lee
Movement: There are definite things that make this guy squirm: his Daddy's voice, Harrison's voice, putting a cold cup of ice cream on my tummy, and music. I think he is nice and squished in there because he has continued with the rolling and stretching. He seems to favor his feet in my ribs :)
Maternity Clothes: Still a mix of tops, and dresses, and maternity shorts and capris
Cravings: Like last week, still don't have a huge appetite, but I find time for my daily bowl of sherbet, even if it is midnight!
Symptoms: Still having that round ligament pain after running, but a friend recommended a maternity belt which helps a lot during running. I just need to remember to put it back on for a few hours after I run because the discomfort comes back in full force reminding me very unkindly of the miles I put in.
Best Moment of The Week: Harrison crawled up beside me with his trains, lifted up my shirt and drove them across my belly. He said he was playing them with Jefferson! Too cute!

Big brother and his #1 Braves fan finger, about the size of Jefferson this week.

What's In Your Cabinet?

It's his new favorite thing...the house will go quiet...too quiet. That's when I know something's up. Either he is getting into something he is not supposed to...or he is hiding. These days, it's been hiding (I like that better than finding him into something he shouldn't.)
While Harrison discovers more and more spots to hide he keeps me on my toes since I have to work on my looking skills. He sure does make my life full of fun!

Swimming Out On His Own

This is Harrison's third summer...very weird to think about! That means three summers of enjoying watermelon, walks in the twilight, and homemade ice cream. Three summers of getting hot and sweaty and cooling off in the pool, which means three summers of re-introducing Harrison to the water. For the past two summers the first couple of times we go to the pool, Harrison likes to sit on the stairs and would prefer to go no further in. But after a few minutes of him sitting this year I introduced "Lightening McQueen" water-wings. We weren't sure how they would go over and we really thought they would be going back into the closet for next year. But boy were we wrong! This little fish took off and hasn't stopped swimming! Every afternoon we are in the pool and he is swimming all by himself (he actually asked us to not touch him, "I want to swim alone".)
He loves being able to propel himself wherever he wants to go and experimenting with floating, splashing, kicking, and dunking. He is quite the little swimmer! Of course it has multiple advantages and he wears himself out...which means a great night's sleep for everyone!

Under The Sea

While in Atlanta we took the opportunity to explore the world's largest aquarium. The moment you walk in it was an overload of all things under, beside, and on top of the sea. Harrison quickly bonded with hammerheads, sting rays, penguins, and beluga whales. This is the only aquarium in the country to serve as home to giant manta rays and 4 whale sharks!
We thought this aquarium trip would be more for Harrison's enjoyment, but Matt and I quickly found ourselves caught up in gaping at the gentle giants swimming above our heads and enjoying exploring animals we have never seen in person before.
We found Nemo at a Pacific reef exhibit, touched hammerhead sharks, played with penguins, and sat mesmerized before a theater sized window as we watched the whale sharks.
These trips have been an incredible opportunity to continue to instill in Harrison the diversity and wonder of God's creation. We talk about what day God made the fish on and how he designed them to survive underwater.
One day when the tour guide launches into his "Millions of years ago..." speech I look forward to seeing Harrison refute that with a sure knowledge and foundation of God's Intelligent Design. And in the meantime it sure is fun to explore what God made and enjoy learning right alongside our wide eyed little guy.

33 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 33 Weeks
Size of Baby: About 17" head to toe-though Harrison was only 18" when he was born, so I wonder if Jefferson will be the same or taller and how much more he will grow in length before birth.

Weight Gain/Loss: Still at 12lbs total. The doctor said because I am so active that I am keeping off a lot of the water weight that happens around this point in pregnancy that can cause swelling and such.
Gender: Boy! Jefferson Lee
Movement: This little man is getting more and more squished so his movements are more long stretches and rolls. He is head down, but facing sideways. Harrison was the same way so I am praying he turnss around in the next few weeks.
Maternity Clothes: Still a mix of tops and dresses and maternity shorts and capris.
Cravings: Not really a ton of cravings since I don't really have an appetite. When I am hungry I want something cool and light like fresh fruit of any kind or frozen yogurt.

Symptoms: Let's just say I know where every restroom is in most stores withing a 20 mile radius.
Best Moment of The Week: Even though his isn't born yet, it is still fun to include Jefferson in our family outings. So I had a blast going to the Braves games with all three of my boys!

Harrison with South American penguins at the Atlanta aquarium. They grow to 16"-18", about the length of Jefferson.
