Confusion 101

Want to know how to completely and utterly confuse a poor baby? You spend months and months telling them, "Don't put that in your mouth," No, you can't eat that," ... You train and train and train repeating day in and day out what is ok and what is not ok to eat. And then you spring it on them, you take them outside, and give them a flower and tell them it's ok to eat it-"It's honeysuckle, you can eat this plant."
Poor baby looked at us like we were nuts- until he tasted it. Now you can just read his mind, "Wonder what daisies taste like? What else have they been keeping from me in this 'don't eat that' world?"

The plans of the heart belong to man, But the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.
All the ways of a man are clean in his own sight, But the Lord weighs the motives. Commit your works to the Lord and your plans will be established.
The Lord has made everything for its own purpose, even the wicked for the day of evil. Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord; Assuredly, he will not be unpunished.
By loving kindness and truth iniquity is atoned for, and by the fear of the Lord one keeps away from evil. When a man's ways are pleasing to the Lord he makes even his enemies to be at peace with
Better is a little with righteousness than great income with injustice. The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord
directs his steps.
Proverbs 16:1-9

By Land and By Sea

Part of the fun of getting to the strawberry fields
was the trip there! We got to take the ferry across the river! Waiting to board the ferry with a toddler was um, entertaining. But we were finally boarded and headed upstairs to the passenger cabin to get a better view! Harrison was not quite so sure with the floating sensation and for once did not mind being held instead of walking around on his own.
Harrison started to realize there was water to look at so we headed out on the decks...
...where there were birds...
...and bugs! The guy was very happy!
Soon our Mr. Daredevil came back and his uncertainty of floating vanished. He would lean as far over the edge as possible-I am sure secretly enjoying the fact he was making his Dad very nervous!
This guy quickly took to the water and found a new favorite, boats!

Boy in a Berry Patch

We took Harrison strawberry picking... ...and all three of us had a blast!
Harrison browsed the rows of berries for awhile until his Dad showed him he could taste the berries!
After that, Harrison stayed on mission to find the biggest, messiest, juiciest strawberries he could find...
And he was quickly covered head to toe in sticky juice and dirt-and he couldn't have been happier!
He had a blast running up and down the rows, picking, tasting, occasionally contributing a berry to our basket, or "bask" as he called it...
He had a blast and quickly drew a crowd of onlookers amused at his antics!
And the final result? A juicy, sticky face...
...and every bit of it is totally worth it!

King of the Mountain

This is Harrison's new favorite activity...
Climbing! He climbs everywhere and on top of anything he can-challenging gravity to the extreme. Maybe he was showing off for the girls, maybe it was his budding testosterone, maybe it was his new life motto-no guts, no glory...
But he was determined to climb to the top and stand on the box-yes the side with the flimsy plastic!
He achieved his goal and I saw that ego pump up a few points, but...
Gravity won-what goes up, must come down-including Harrison.
And for your viewing pleasure...Harrison's box top glory moment - I bet you can't tell how proud of himself he is!

Things I Never Thought I'd Say

You're ok, that's why we don't eat tripods... No honey, you can't lick strangers...
No, we don't throw away water bottles...
He can wear it again, it only has a little applesauce on it- it's not dirty enough to wash yet... No, mommy said it was time to eat breakfast, not chocolate...
Daddy's socks are not for eating...
Here, play with some ice cubes while I finish dinner... Please don't put your feet in my hair...
Who dumped coffee beans and garlic powder on the kitchen floor, again...

Life couldn't get any sweeter!

This guys is growing and changing so fast! It seems every day he wakes up so much more grown than the day before! He is finally getting some height on him which means he can reach door handles without a stool! He loves walking and hates having to be in a stroller or carried. But he is very obedient when it comes to being out in public. He knows he has to ride in a cart or be held in a store. He is really picking up speed to! This kid can run fast! He loves instigating little games and getting reactions! He is quite good in the theatrics department too! He can fake sneeze, fake fall down, fake cry, fake laugh, and fake eat food (he hides it under himself in his seat and I find it when I take him out of his chair!) This guy can hold an audience in the palm of his hand! Every week at Sunday School we are given a report when we pick him up-it seems he is the ring leader of the group. If Harrison wants snack, they all want snack, if Harrison wants more, they all want more. This week we went to get him and he was sliding head first down a slide while all the other (older) kids were standing watching him! They were quite content to be entertained by our wild man!
His favorite words these days-(Harrison's pronunciation are in parenthesis)
Outside (ow-sye)
Noodles (noonyas)
Sand (saaa)
Ants( tss, yuck!)
Mail (mull)
Playground (a-pug)
He is his Daddy's boy, his Mommy's big strong helper, and loves to say "hi" to everyone. We are very blessed to have this guy and watch him grow in wisdom, stature, and favor with God and men.

Your Name Is Jesus

During our beach trip Harrison and I had a great morning of watching the sunrise together. We had such a special prayer and praise time all alone on the beach with our Savior! I couldn't help but think of the words to the song below. I pray for Harrison to one day know and love our Savior in this way.How many songs can I sing to proclaim your wondorous love and beauty so great? What would I say if you brought down the rain and every day I walk through the pain, my heart would still say... Your name is Jesus! Your name is Jesus!
Your the Wonderful, Counselor, my Friend,
You're what I hold onto; I know that you brought me through...All the days of loss, to the cross you knew I need a Savior.
Your name is Jesus! Your name is Jesus!

Hide It In Your Heart

Behold,How sweet, and pleasant,
it is for brothers,
to dwell together in unity.
Psalm 133:1
