Throwback Thursday

Join us for throwback Thursday!
Celebrating our past and blessings along the way! This picture was taken exactly one year ago! I can hardly believe this is the same little guy. The baby in the picture was wearing a newborn sleeper, slept a lot, spit up a lot, couldn't smile, talk, give hugs or kisses. He had been in this world four weeks and we were smitten. Now this baby boy is a running, exploring, daring, happy, laughing, talking, out going 13 month old!
What a difference a year can make!

Seasonal Confusion

Harrison doesn't understand... ...about spring.
It frustrates him, and frankly, I agree.
One day we are in the pool, the next bundled in jackets...
one day it's sunny, the next it's pouring down rain.
And so he sits...
...staring out the window trying to figure out why we can't go out and play just like the day before.
Very soon Harrison it will be summertime and I have a feeling you will fall in love with it just like me.

Oh You Can't Get To Heaven...

...Oh you can't get to Heaven... ...In dirty blue jeans, in dirty blue jeans...
Oh you can't get to Heaven, oh you can't get to Heaven... dirty blue jeans...
Oh you can't get to Heaven in dirty blue jeans 'cuz God ain't got no wash-machines...
...all my stains are washed away, I've been redeemed!

The Big One!

The big one year check-up that is! Yes, it was a few weeks after he turned one, but it still counts as the one year check. I can't believe a year ago I would hold my sleeping baby boy in my arms while we waited for the doctor... he likes to explore the room, taste tongue depressors... snacks, touch every germ covered toy in the room, climb up and down the table, tries to escape when the door is open...
...and shred the table paper! I'd have to say it is a lot more fun now! You make the doctor's office a blast Harrison!

Too Smart For His Own Good

We've know since day one our little guy was pretty determined... ...I am certain the phrase "Where there is a will, there's a way" was coined with him in mind.
He has had a burning desire to open this closet door for months, but height restrictions have hindered his plight... ...But he has found a way! This smarty pants figured how to pull the stool over to the object of his desire... ...climb up, open the handle, and gain access to the grand world of the closet!
(And yes, I was laughing witnessing his creativity at work!)

My Son...

...Pay attention to what I say, listen closely to my words.
Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; For they are life to those who find them, and health to man's whole body.
Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. Put away perversity from your mouth and corrupt talk far from your lips;
Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you.
Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm.
Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.
Proverbs 4:20-27

Time is like sand in the hourglass... ...grain by grain slipping from view...
...but it all adds up at the bottom... a mountain of memories......and moments with you!

It's Been Said...

...a picture is worth a thousand words.
After a road trip, a missed nap, four hours of walking around, unfamiliar sights and sounds, and two empty snack containers, Harrison had his fill of the aquarium. This picture was taken towards the end of our excursion and only needs a few of those thousand words... ...He was done!

God of Wonders

Lord of all creation, of the water earth and sky... The Heaven's are your Tabernacle...
Glory to the Lord on High... God of wonders beyond our galaxy, you are Holy...
The universe declares Your Majesty, You are Holy...
Lord of Heaven and Earth!

Part of the aquarium adventure was helping point out the animals to Harrison who couldn't always spot them right away... His eyes would search the area we pointed to, and then... ...he spotted it!
...and he studied and observed it for a loooooong time...
...the Komodo Dragon!
Tell Daddy what you see Harrison...
"Yuck!" he says...
Yep, the face sums up what Harrison thought of Komodos- Oh my!

Looking Glass

To a very hands-on little boy, an aquarium is a hard place to figure out... ...because the wall of glass between him and the objects of his curiosity kept getting in the way...
...kept him from jumping in the water... ...and swimming with the fish... ...and from bringing this turtle home with us (we had a hard time pulling Harrison away from this turtle-he loved him!) But on the flip side, the glass kept the turtles safe... ...the hermit crabs unscathed... ...and the fish untasted by Harrison's ever present curiosity.
I for one am grateful on the account of both partied involved for the glass separating Harrison and the rattlesnakes. And because of glass we were able to see an underwater view of the otters, which Harrison preferred to the view above water! I'd have to say Harrison soon found the benefits of the glass and fell in love even more with the aquarium!

This past weekend was amazing! We took a very spontaneous mini vacation to the beach. Warning: many posts ahead about our trip because you can't help but take thousands of pictures with this guy. This is not a face of trepidation. This face says... ...Let me at 'em!
While on our trip we took Harrison back to the aquarium! This time our guy was all hands on and had no fear!
I don't think the same "no fear" was shared by the horseshoe crabs in the touch tank when they saw Harrison coming in! More aquarium to come...
