Jefferson's 11th Birthday Interview
The kids' favorite birthday traditions consist of being measured on the family growth chart, planning a special treat to stick candles in and devour, and the birthday interviews.
Every year I wonder if it will be the last year they want to take part in the same yearly questions and without fail, every year, so far, it's been the older three boys who excitedly seek me out to conduct it.
So since it's secretly one of my favorite traditions, and I will be wistful when the days of birthday interviews come to their natural conclusion, I'll keep on conducting them, and cherishing every single one of their responses.
Without further ado, Jefferson's 11th birthday interview:
What's your favorite color: Blue, really all shades. I just like blues a lot
What is your favorite thing to play: Easy, Legos
What is your favorite thing to eat for lunch: Homemade lunchables, chicken nuggets, and I make a really good grilled cheese
What is your favorite thing to wear: My fun Star Wars t-shirts
What is your favorite thing to do outside: Swim! I love the pool!
What is your favorite holiday: Christmas! I really like Christmas because it's not just over and done in a day. It's a holiday that literally builds the whole year and then as it gets closer the more we do, decorating, baking, wrapping presents, to get ready. But it's never really over as we can celebrate it and look forward to it all year.
What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast: Donuts, bacon, and sausage, and scrambled eggs.
What is your favorite movie: All the Marvel movies, Infinity Wars and End Game being my favorites
What do you want to be when you grow up: A doctor. Part of me still really wants to be a pediatrician, but I really have been more interested in trauma medicine lately, so maybe I will still work with kids but in an emergency or trauma setting.
What is your favorite fruit: Blueberries and watermelon
What is your birthday meal: Golden Corral, because I can choose anything I want there and as much as I want, and then a donut tower for my birthday cake.
What is your favorite song: Toby Mac, most all his songs. I really like 'Jesus is Still Alright with Me'.
Who is your best friend: My brothers, Jaden and Asher, and well, my whole family!
What is your favorite animal: A lion. I didn't know that was my favorite animal until I got to see one up close in Disney World and I just couldn't stop watching him. He is so calmly powerful and I just really liked him.
What is your favorite book: I really like the Ladd Family Adventure Books
What is your favorite special treat: Root beer floats!
What is your favorite special treat: sour gummies, almost any kind of a sour gummy, cotton candy, sour powder candies, and ice cream. Vanilla ice cream with toppings and rainbow sherbet are my favorites.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you want to go: Florida, I want to try to see all the best beaches there and lots of other places in Florida I just love. I maybe want to live there. And Hawaii, all the islands.
What is your favorite sword (Bible verse): I have two, first, Hebrews 4:12. I know with God's Word there is no battle I can't win for Him and with Him. And Joshua 1:9 it encourages me to know I'm never alone, no matter what I'm facing or scared or nervous of, God is with me.
What is your favorite account in the Bible: It's actually many, it's all of Jesus' miracles. I love reading about them. My favorite is when He walked on water. I would have loved to have been there to see that!
Jefferson, you are our steady, quiet warrior. As you mentioned in your interview about the lion, I see the same in you, you have a calm power. You are a lion and I see God's courageousness welling up in your soul with each year you grow to be more like Him. You quietly take the reins in stressful situations, quelling altercations, teaching a concept to a frustrated younger sibling, serving quietly and never seeking recognition. I truly admire the man you are becoming and desire to learn from you!
You have such a sweet tooth! Your idea of a well-rounded diet would be pop tarts, waffles, donuts, and candy with an occasional ice cream. You love science and math and long strategic board games, hate reading, working outside, and anything that has tomato sauce. But a side note about the working outside, you may hate it, but I love how you just slap on your head phones, blare your praise and worship playlist and sing at the top of your lungs as you get the hot and sweaty work done!
I know God will use you in mighty ways for His glory. He has instilled so many talents and gifts in you. We are so very proud of you and the man you are becoming.
Happy Birthday Jefferson! We love you!
