Eight Weeks

This week our baby gets toes, fingers, and starts to move around! Matt and I stay amazed at the creation of life! How God can take two imperfect people and create such intricate perfection! We had our first glimpse of this little life on Friday! We sat mesmerized by the flickering black and white image on the screen as we saw our baby and its little heart beat. It was so fast! We were both speechless and of course had smiles etched across our faces! We couldn't even see details, but it was the cutest baby you've ever seen! And you know we had to call the grandparents right away to tell them how cute and perfect the baby is! As of Friday August, 22, our baby was 1.44 cm long, the size of a large blueberry! And this week the baby will grow to over 1/2 long!

So more points to my incredible husband! He has gone out two late nights in a row to satisfy my craving for Wendy's Frosty! It's about the only thing my stomach calls friend right now, and just perfect. Matt makes no complaint as he drives across town to fetch my craving. He has even done the grocery shopping, made his own meals, bought me breakfast in bed (when I can tolerate it:)), washed the dishes, and taken out trash! He worked non-stop this weekend with no complaints and I could not feel more blessed to have such an amazing husband. I can't wait until our baby gets to know its incredible Dad!

Why Eve Why?

Since we found out the news that God has blessed us with Our Little Clark on the way, a lot has happened, and my head is spinning to keep up.

With all of the wonder and joy of being pregnant come some not-so-pleasant experiences. In the legal world, the term “fruit of the poisonous tree” means that evidence improperly obtained by the police cannot be used in court. In our world, the “fruit of the poisonous tree” means that Megan is feeling tired and sick as a dog. Why you may ask?

Yes, thanks to the first woman (no I’m not woman bashing) my wife has to suffer though sleep deprivation, fatigue, and nausea – and this is just the beginning.

Genesis 3:16 says, “To the woman He said, ‘I will greatly multiply your pain in childbirth, in pain you will bring forth children; yet your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.’” (NASB) (Note: I tend to like John’s 3:16 better).

Thanks Eve – we really appreciate that one!

Morning Sickness and Cravings

Well, I thought I would sail through this with a little occasional nausea and that would be it, right? No! :) Over the past week each day brings a new wave of wonderful stomach twinges, but who would have thought I could ever feel blessed to feel such nausea! I wasn't even able to stay at work yesterday because of it, but it really is exciting. I feel like all I do is sleep, eat, feel sick, and sleep again! But it is exciting to know God is busy knitting this little life together and I feel blessed to be carrying this gift.

Also, major points to my incredible husband! Last weekend he drove 45 min. to get me these Chinese rice crackers, now I can't even stand the sight of the bag of the crackers! Even typing about it is turning my stomach, so I will have to stop. My husband hid them somewhere so I won't see them anymore all the while laughing at my very short lived craving. Last night he drove out the store to buy me baked beans because that was the only thing that sounded remotely tolerable! Then he sat back wordless as I ate a bowl of mustard and dill relish; he must think I have lost it! But he is amazing! I can't wait to tell this little one all the great things his Daddy did to help and all the crazy food habits that came with this pregnancy so far!

We love you little baby and look forward to each new day and development!
