Dear Harrison, tonight I'm putting you to bed as my 8 year old. I'm wondering where in the world the last 8 years went and knowing 8 years from now we'll be in a whole new world of life buried deep into teen years. Together we've had the best adventures and hardest growing pains. You've grown me in a hundred ways and we're only just beginning this incredible gift of being mother and son. For all the laughs, tears, craziness, goofiness, watching movies together, cookie dough eating, card game playing, praying for and over I wouldn't trade a moment. My cup overflows with you as my firstborn and I thank God for the gift of being your Mommy! I love you Harrison! May you continue to grow in wisdom, stature, and favor with God and man.
Happy Birthday!

One Month Washington

Dear Washington, Happy One Month Birthday (a few days ago)!
It's really hard to believe you've been here for a full month. If only pregnancy months went as fast as growing up months ha!
You are in size one diapers, newborn size clothes, finally love bath time, and hate being cold (can't blame you at all for that one!)
You are now starting to really observe and take in all your crazy family members. You just stare us all down with your gentle blue eyed gaze and I can only imagine what you are thinking about the chaos around you.
You have fought all attempts I've made at getting you on a schedule. You prefer eating every 2-3 hours around the clock. You have no need for longer stretches of sleep during nighttime hours, but at least for right now, that's ok. It's just our special time of being alone in the quiet and I'm soaking it up knowing you will be grown and going wild right along with your big siblings.
You only cry when you want to be held and quiet down the second you're snuggled in someones arms. You have the sweetest little personalty and so far are ok with being wrapped into my carrier and go right along with our non-stop life. We love you so much and are so thankful God decided we needed a Washington in our family! We love you baby boy! Happy one month and many more ahead!

Baby Sound Bytes

Since Washington has come home and become a permanent part of every day life, we've heard more one-liners, quips, and questions from his big siblings than a stand up comedy show.
I'll provide a sampling for your enjoyment and for my documenting purposes for my later reminiscing and their later groaning of "why did you post that Mom?!"
But in order to somewhat protect the identities of the following quoted goofballs I'll let you guess who said what ;)
"So Mommy, I don't think Washington could fit to get out of your tummy. Did you just open your mouth real wide and he walked out?! My mouth couldn't open that big, and I don't think yours could either."
"Now that he's out of your tummy can we play tackle football with you?!" (Said within minutes of me walking in the front door from the hospital.)
"So once he drinks the milk, how do you open up to refill?"
"So is this all he's gonna do? Just lay here and sleep and then eat and then sleep more!? Let me know when he can wrestle."
"Washington is the best littlest brother in the whole world. And I shared with him my Cheeze-itz!"
