Harrison is Ready!

Our little guy definitely told the midwife yesterday that he is ready to meet us! I am now 80% effaced and his head is at +1 station, which basically means, he wants out! It has been so much fun preparing for, praying for, and falling in love with this baby, now we are days away from having him in our arms! I've noticed a lot of changes physically- like I feel really heavy lower on my belly, more pressure, things like that. But I have noticed more changes I guess emotionally. I feel antsy and have butterflies all at once all the time. I'm still nesting, but find myself feeling a little more tired throughout the day than I was even a few days ago. Matt says he feels different too, like the calm before the storm type thing. He says it is a constant feeling of something big coming very soon and it makes him feel antsy too! We are just so at peace and content- nothing it seems can stress us out right now, which is really funny because I thought I would be stressed at this point trying to figure out all the little details.

We are trying to fill our days so our minds are not focused on wondering if this is the day. I still walk/jog several miles a day, we spend some time playing games and such in the evenings. We get together with friends a lot- all of which makes the time go by faster. Oh, this is weird- something new that has happened over the past 3-4 days is that I get insatiably hungry at the weirdest times of the day! I could have just had lunch or it has sometimes been midnight, or even 1 AM and I need food! So far toast, hotdogs, and sherbert have answered the need just fine, but it is very weird.

Harrison is such a blessing and his life even at its earliest has already taught us so much. This pregnancy has been one of the most amazing growing times for Matt and me. As of late, we just keep feeling God's hand of blessing over us and our son as the Provider for all of our needs. We have recently committed all our finances(income, savings accounts, investments, student loans, etc.) to God. While hard at first to surrender what we thought was best, God has provided beyond our own plans for ourselves. In just the past 7 weeks of actively praying over every dollar and living financially for Christ, we have been able to pay off loans and debts we did not see being able to do for years to come. It is amazing how God can multiply and spread a dollar just by surrendering to His will. He has provided for Harrison in ways we never thought we would be able to. Even today, a knock on the door revealed a UPS delivery from one of Matt's co-workers. She surprised us with Harrison's highchair seat! It is just amazing how God has His hands on the little intricate details and the big events. God is good- all the time!

Harrison, we grow in our anticipation and longing to hold you so soon. We look forward to telling you about how much we love you, your extended family loves you, and how much Jesus loves you. We want you to know how special your life is and will continue to be and how much God has laid His hand on you already! We love you!

Getting Ready!

We keep looking back over this pregnancy thinking about how much has happened in the last nine months and we are blown away; at the same time it has flown by! It is exciting, yet scary about how fast time really does go. We are officially on the count down! I don't want to get my hopes up at all, but the midwife seems to think this little guy will not wait to much longer to make his appearance! She is guessing he will be earlier than later, which is exciting! He is definitely a little spunky guy though. He is VERY active and loves playing with Daddy. Harrison gets so hyper when he hears his Daddy's voice at night when he comes home or is just talking nearby. It is really cute! He also hates contractions! He somewhat did this back when I was in preterm labor, but now he is bigger and I can feel his protesting kicks even more! At this point in pregnancy it is normal to experience increased contractions throughout the day. After each contraction, he kicks the daylights out of my tummy as if to show my uterus who is boss. He doesn't like his space invaded with the muscles squeezing him! It is funny now, but might make labor a real treat! :) At least we are already getting a glimpse of this little guys personality! He will definitely make life full and exciting!
We are all packed for the birthing center and ready to go, except for a few last minute essentials. It was so much fun packing Harrison's bag! We got to pick out the little outfits, and hat, and onesies for our guy. It was just so neat to fold them up knowing we would be dressing our infant son in them in just a few short weeks! Matt and I can hardly contain our excitement and are more than ready to meet Harrison face to face. We are ready to fill our arms with him! Just about two weeks until our due date and we are giddy with anticipation!

Great Day at the Midwife Appointment

Just to keep you updated. Matt and I had a great appointment with our midwife today. Harrison is starting to let us know he is getting ready to come! The midwife said I am 50% effaced, 2cm dilated, cervix has completely softened, and he is -1 station. This means his head is very low and in perfect position to be born. He is also facing the right way which is a blessing! The midwife said my staying so active and in shape has definately helped to progress things and wants me to keep it up as long as possible. She said it could aid in a very speedy labor. We will see. It was exciting none the less just to know our little guy was doing what he is supposed to and is healthy and growing. We will keep you updated; we still have 3 and 1/2 weeks until our due date, so it will be a suprise when Harrison actually comes, but at least we know he is getting ready!

36 Weeks

We are down to the last remaining weeks and the time is flying by! Matt and I spend a lot of time making list after list. We have a list for things we still need to get, a list for what to pack for the birthing center, a list for what do when labor starts, a list for right after Harrison is born..etc. You get the idea. At least on paper we are organized!

We just had a great weekend at our birthing class. It was a class focused on natural, un-medicated birth, but taught from a Christian perspective. The teachers really focused on how God created this and the real miracle of how the body works and how the baby is born. We learned a lot and really felt at peace about why we are going this route. We feel confident and ready to handle this. We both agreed that now we are just ready to do this.

I am definitely in that nesting stage! I can't clean or organize enough! I already keep my house pretty clean, but now I am going into overdrive. I have been pulling out blankets kept in storage to wash, scrubbing cabinet doors- inside and out, deep cleaning our cars, reorganizing things I already had organized...I can't do enough it seems. It's like I want everything perfect for when Harrison comes. Is he really going to remember how clean and fresh his new home is when we bring him home? Nope, but it will let me rest easier when we do come home.

Other things that invade my thought life? Well, Matt laughs at me, and maybe I'm vain. But my latest thoughts are timing of labor, what if I didn't get a chance to vacuum recently when I go into labor, or my hair is dirty? I'm being honest here; am I the only pregnant woman to think like this? I am willing to let these things go, but in a perfect world I would love a clean house and clean hair when I go into labor, oh and legs shaved too. Simple things really, but I guess when it is time, I will be consumed by focusing on the task at hand to get Harrison into this world as safe and healthy as possible!

We have our now weekly midwife appointment tomorrow, so I will update you on how it goes! It is getting so exciting!!!

Babymoon and Snowdays!!!

We just got back from the best weekend ever! My wonderful husband planned a babymoon for us! He wanted to have one last weekend getaway as just Matt and Megan before we became a family of three, so he took us to one of our favorite hotels that has a lot of memories for us. It was so special and we had a great time relaxing, eating sea food, and swimming! They had a heated indoor pool! Let me tell you, I highly recommend swimming this late in pregnancy! As I got into the water it felt like I was not even pregnant anymore! I could not feel any weight on my belly and it was so soothing and relaxing! I did not want to get out ever. It was the best feeling.

Yesterday morning we woke up to a winter wonderland! A late in the season snowfall left our world white and beautiful! We got about four inches which in the south is a lot! Matt was able to stay home and work so we got an extra day added to our babymoon weekend! This is Matt getting ready to go brave the ice and snow! :) And this is me with Harrison at 35 weeks!
We looked like little kids again hiking through the snow and throwing snowballs. It was great! We were talking about how much fun it will be when Harrison is old enough to take out in the snow.
