Throwback Thursday

Celebrating our past and blessings along the way.
Join us for Throwback Thursday! These gorgeous photos were taken after one of our first New Year's together as newlyweds. Don't we look so wide eyed and energetic? Ha! I wish I still looked even that wide eyed at midnight, but these days I am a good two or more hours into my much needed sleep by that point. I don't remember the particulars of this pictured New Years, where we were, how we celebrated, who we were with, etc. But I do know we could sleep in the next morning, um afternoon, ok the whole day if we wanted to! Matt and I were talking about how much things change with having children. But we realized we loved each and every change. Harrison has changed our lives for the better and we wouldn't trade it for anything! Not for later nights, sleeping in, going to parties, or anything else. Our little guy made our lives so much richer! This New Years might have us rubbing our tired eyes bright and early the next morning, but the years ahead of us bring much more to celebrate! Happy New Years!

Our Christmas Morning

Our Christmas morning was quiet, special, and full of memories. It was just the three of us. We were able to soak in each moment of Harrison's wonder and curiosity. What is in there Dad?Ok, I could get used to this... ...lollipops in a stocking every morning! Cool! Look at those wheels! I don't know how to read yet, I just want to open it!
Mommy showed me a trick to open the ends first...
Ok, I'll try it that way...
Nah, I just want to shred the paper off-forget the neat stuff!
They got me an extra airplane blanket!!! I have to stop and have a cuddle!
Boy meets Tonka...
He honestly hasn't stopped playing with his Tonka truck since he opened it...
I think they are best friends.

Christmas Favorite

Matt had way too much fun this Christmas! He loved having his boy to buy for! He had wanted to get Harrison a Tonka truck since we heard the words "You're having a boy." So under the tree Christmas morning was the gigantic yellow dump truck. We saved it for last and sure enough, it became the favorite!

Every day since Matt and Harrison have had long play times with the beloved truck and I've had a blast watching them.

9 Months

Today you are nine months old Harrison! You are growing and changing so fast!
Your little personality is growing right along with you and we are so blessed to have you in our lives. You are crawling everywhere now! You like to climb up stairs, on top of furniture, and into tight spaces in which you usually get stuck. You can cruise around the whole house and are learning to stand on your own. Just today you stood all by yourself! You love food! You eat pretty much everything we do now. Your favorites are mac 'n cheese, zucchini, Gerber crunchies, and yogurt, but you aren't really a picky eater at all.You say Dada, Mama, yay, light, ball, and bye. You babble all the time, so I have a feeling you know a lot more than you can say. I think you have a lot of opinions and great thoughts just waiting to burst out! You can sign a lot of words too! You sign more, please, no, light, bye, eat, and all done. Your poor little head stays colored with goose eggs and knots. You are quite the dare devil and take frequent dives from unsteady perches. You are my rough and tumble boy and I love every minute of you keeping me on my toes! You are our pride and joy and blessing from God! We have had such a blast these past nine months and are so proud of you! We anticipate each day as you grow in wisdom, stature, and favor with God and man. We love you Harrison! Happy 9 months!

What Christmas is All About

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were greatly afraid.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God,and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Luke 2:1-8

Merry Christmas from Matt, Megan, and Harrison Clark!

'Twas the Day Before Christmas

Twas the day before Christmas and all through our house
Harrison was stirring, (our house has no mouse)
Our stockings all hung on the banister with care
in hopes that Harrison can’t reach them there. And mama was baking Christmas cookies and treats
And Daddy was busy stuffing stockings with sweets
When all of a sudden there arose such a thought,
That there’s part of this eve that should not be forgot,
For Harrison’s wondering heart to be taught,
About Jesus, His birth, His death on the cross,And we told him how Jesus was born in a manger
How He healed the sick and welcomed in strangers,
His eyes how they loved, His hands always gave,
He washed away our sin, and conquered the grave,

We told him how Jesus wants to be Lord of his life,
He loved us so much he was born that cold night,
And angels announced his glorious birth,
To shepherds who rejoiced to Peace on Earth,And Harrison you’ll hear this all through the year,
Because it’s not just at Christmas that Christ should appear,
But that’s why we celebrate with gifts, trees, and lights,
And say Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Matt and I have been talking a lot lately about the new Christmas traditions we want to start as our own with our first Christmas with a child. We have been having a blast experiencing everything like it was the first time just because of Harrison. This week we took him to a nearby store that is more like a town! He was a tad overwhelmed as most of the time he spent with his eyes wide and mouth hanging open! The boys did find a Clark bar to enjoy! And of course Harrison found a treat he wanted...candy fascination starts young! He wasn't too sure about the tiger...not sure why. Not like he was had a lot of interaction with them.
But the elephant he was taken with-he had a blast riding him! Too bad the price tag exceeded Harrison's Christmas present budget for the next 25 years!
My men's favorite part in the whole shop was the train that ran along a track mounted to the ceiling. They followed it around the whole store and Harrison provided much entertainment for all around as his arms and legs flapped in anticipation as the train would approach.
This was my favorite room-it had twinkling stars, a frozen pond, and it actually snowed in there! Unlike me, Harrison was very wary of the star room-maybe a bit overstimulating for a nine month old?
But all in all we had a blast. We continued on a Christmas tradition Matt and I have had for a few years. We bought a new Christmas candle. This time we picked it out as a family. We can't wait to continue establishing our traditions with our children!
Merry Christmas Eve Eve!

Harrison is all boy. He loves food, football, conquering new challenges, and making noises. On his own just this past week he started applying his new "vroom" noise to his Duplo cars. And from the multiple videos on this post I am sure you can tell it provides us ample entertainment!

Caroling with Harrison

And now it's time for Silly Songs With Larry Caroling With Harrison, the part of the show where Harrison comes out to sing and dance to a Christmas carole...
(Turn your volume up so you can hear, he is singing the "rum pum pum pum" with Jars of Clay)

And this one needs no explanation as you will probably just get a smile for your day if not a laugh!

Snow Baby

We thought Harrison would not see snow until he was much older due to the fact that is rarely snows where we live. Remember this? We couldn't wait for Harrison to join us in the snow fun-but Harrison wasn't as excited as we thought he would be... Mom, seriously, why am I all bundled up? What is this all about? No Dad, take me back in, it's warm in there!
Please you guys, this is cold! Why are you guys so excited about this stuff- it's cold and wet! You guys are nuts if you think this is fun.
Ok, if I have to stay out here, what is there to do with this cold white stuff? Making snowballs with Daddy is kind fun...
And throwing them and eating the snow is kind of fun... But, I think it's a little overrated guys... I mean really think about it Mom and Dad, it took like 30 minutes to get ready to come out here... And well, we've been out for 7 minutes at least and I am more than ready to get back in. I mean, do I have a point?

Ok, Dad, thanks for showing me the snow, but I have a warm house I would love to go back to. Can we please go inside?

The Story of Us in Fives

December 18, 2004 Five Years ago today we said "I do". Five minutes before our wedding, the girls...
Five minutes before our wedding, the boys...
Five seconds before walking down the aisle...
Five times the normal heart rates...
Five times the peace we've ever known...
Five minuets after our wedding...
Five seconds of taking it all in...
Five minutes off my feet...
Five decibels of cheers on our departure...Five years of marriage has bought us timeless memories, countless blessings, numerous lessons, two graduate degrees, three moves to new houses, six job changes, three new cars, two surgeries, surprises, road trips, service opportunities, disagreements, laughter, presents, tears, joy, work, relief, appreciation, gratitude, Harrison, and the anticipation of many more tomorrows.
I love you infinity and beyond!
