Full of Thanks 2014 Interview

Once again, time for an entertaining interview with the brothers...
(And for previous entertainment here are the Full of Thanks Interviews 2012 and 2013 :)

Harrison: That I have a Buzz Lightyear toy
Jefferson: For my Blades Rescuebot Transformer
Who is a person you are thankful for?
Harrison: Bean
Jefferson: My Daddy! (yelled loudly)
What is something spiritual you are thankful for?
Harrison: That God has given us a nice house to live in and we are safe there!
Jefferson: God loves me! (more yelling)
What is a weakness you have that you are thankful for?
Harrison: Well, I'm not as good at being an American Ninja Warrior yet, but I'll practice so I can jump across all that stuff and climb and I'm thankful for that!
Jefferson: Um, pico and chips!
What is a health related thing you are thankful for?
Harrison: Motrin
Jefferson: I can see in the dark!

What is your favorite Thanksgiving Day food?

Talents, Teams, and Candy

Nothing like taking boys to a ripe hunting ground of competitive opportunities to watch personalities, talents, and sugar addictions come out.
Of course the opportunity for fun, games, and candy fell on one of the coldest nights of the year we had so far.
So we bundled up enough to make people in Minnesota laugh at our cold weather sissiness and hit the festival fun.
And we learned a lot about these little men, who are growing way too fast, but that's besides the point.
We learned their competitive nature is alive and strong even beyond the imaginary contests around the house.
We saw cold weather, rogue wind gusts, gloves, and bulky coats get blamed for missed throws and unhit targets.
We saw victory dances enough to rival NFL wide receivers in the end zone and cheers and chants enough to start a pep club.
Wils didn't care too much about the saga of carnival frivolity as long as he had something sweet and sticky near his lips.
But even with the silent "one-upping" and "outdoing" I was proud to see it all in good nature.
Because along with the competition came encouragement and pride in their brother's attempts at nailing his shot.
And while Harrison's passion may not be kicking a football through the posts, he sure has a deadly accuracy with his football aim.
He threaded that pigskin through an old tire out throwing the loud show-off bunch of teenagers ahead of him.
And while Jefferson may not be quite the arm his big brother is, at least yet, his kick sure surpassed the same group of cocky teens leaving stares as he picked his sugary reward.
And I saw competing brothers clap each other on backs and offer praises of "well done" in genuine congratulations.
So a little competition around here is no big deal, it's healthy, it's good for them as they sharpen each other in bettering themselves.
But what's even better to me was watching the "team" mentality grow as well, identifying the other brothers as being on "their side."
Those comradery moments seem few and far between at times, but we can build on this, this knowledge that no matter how many dragged out, kicked down fights and squabbles they get into, they know their brothers are there for them.
They have each others backs and each others best interests. In the end, they're a team, even with their inner competitiveness. And of course consuming their candy bar loot together helps those bonds too.

15 Weeks

How Far Along: 15 Weeks
Size of Baby: 4 inches, about the size of a softball
Gender: We hope to find out around Christmastime!
Maternity Clothes: Not yet, but I've become a huge fan of leggings and tunic tops :)
Movement: Definitely feeling more defined movements several times throughout the day. Baby is really active right after my workouts, after I climb into bed, and after I eat ice cream ;)
Cravings: While turkey sandwiches and fruit are still a main staple, I've started enjoying my pregnancy must, sherbert!
Symptoms: Feeling great! Energy is back and no more nausea. I think the boys have liked having Momma back and we've been having fun enjoying leaf throwing wars while raking and helping bake cookies since I can stand being back in the kitchen.
Best Moment of the Week: Harrison is really into following along with the baby's development this pregnancy. Today he came and started poking at my tummy saying he was playing with the baby since it can now respond to outside noises. He also likes to kiss my tummy and talk to baby since he learned that this week baby can now hear us. My Momma heart loves watching my kids already interact and build relationships.
And for memories sake...

The Normalcy of Chaos

Harrison has decided sticking his tongue out is the perfect new pose for all pictures take in his general direction.
He's also decided to add bull riding, space exploration, and knighthood to the long list of life goals he has written for himself.
Jefferson has recently announced he has super hero powers which consist of being able to see in the dark.
Not sure exactly how he plans to use said ability, but I'm keeping a close eye on him to make sure he doesn't test out any hidden super hero flying abilities.
In other normal chaos news, these two have decided toothpaste makes an excellent cleaner and I routinely find their bathroom mirror and counter polished to a hazy mint blue finish and proud men waiting to be praised for their cleaning efforts.
And this little mischievous chunk has taken up penmanship, showing incredible promise for superb handwriting skills. His only downfall is mistaking couches and tables with paper. Also, scotch tape unrolling and throwing non-trash items in the garbage are quickly becoming his superior skill set.

And that's just a quick summation of what's been going on around here and what's been making life fun, full, and well, perfect. :)

14 Weeks

How Far Along: 14 weeks...2nd trimester!!!
Size of Baby: 3 1/2 - 4", about the size of a lemon or an adult fist
Gender: We hope to find out around Christmastime!
Maternity Clothes: Not yet, but I'm definitely feeling protest flutters around my jeans' waist band when I'm sitting down :)
Movement: Those precious flutters and taps are becoming more frequent. I still don't feel them all the time or even everyday, but I can definitely tell when the flutters are baby making itself known.
Cravings: Still loving my turkey sandwiches on homemade bread and vegetables, any kind, salad, steamed, stir fried, raw. Also fruit, any kind.
Symptoms: Nausea is pretty much a thing of the past. There are a few very strong smells or meals that just don't sound friendly to me these days, but other than that it's been left behind in the 1rst trimester. I'm exercising every day and now just waiting on the baby bump to prove a pregnancy exists!
Best Moment of the Week: The boys have been very helpful in trying to name the baby for us. Their top choices have been Jack, like a jack-in-the-box, since the baby is inside my tummy and will pop out to surprise us (as explained by Harrison.) And Jefferson has suggested the name "Chair" for reasons only he will ever know, but points for creativity :)

Celebrating "I Do's"

We took the boys to a wedding.
Actually, the boys were in the wedding; Aunt Cole and Uncle CJ's wedding.
If you have the slightest idea into my boys' personalities, shenanigans, and creativity, I was a little curious as to how wedding performances would go.
I mean, let's be honest. You give a boy a soft pillow to carry and hold for an entire ceremony, he soon starts hallucinating he's a weapons specialist with a grenade launcher.
And you give a guy who never runs out of surprising things to say a microphone and an audience you're looking at a you-tube worthy stand-up comedy routine.
But I have to say, even with all my momma-mind could envision, once the tuxes and ties were on, little debonairs emerged.
Harrison recited his Song of Solomon 8:6 verse perfectly without any added personal sermon notes or jokes for the bride and groom.
Jefferson made it down the aisle, into his assigned place, and only pretended to throw his pillow to an imaginary wide receiver in the pond behind the ceremony.
There were no injuries with pin loaded corsages, no knee split tux pants from impromptu tackling during wedding party pictures. The only casualties were an enormous count of emptied Coke bottles by a certain 5 year old and anyone unfortunate to be in the line of fire of my boys' rice throwing.
It was a very fun weekend celebrating Aunt Cole and Uncle CJ, celebrating the boys' successful completion of wedding duties, and trying not to think too much about when they'll be in their own weddings as grooms, and probably still randomly tackling each other and consuming way too much caffeine.

13 Weeks

I'm way behind in documenting my weekly pregnancy posts, mainly because I've been too sick, or the boys have been too sick, or I forget to take a weekly picture. But better late than never, complete with a photo-bomb by a big brother :)
How Far Along: 13 weeks
Size of Baby: About 3", the length of a pea pod
Gender: We hope to find out around Christmastime!
Maternity Clothes: Not yet, if you remember from my other pregnancies, I've been given a freakishly long torso in which babies like to hide.
Movement: This week I've started feeling those teeny little taps and flutters, mainly when I'm trying to fall asleep :)
Cravings: Cream of fruit flavored instant oatmeal and turkey sandwiches on homemade bread...yum!
Symptoms: After the past few months of non stop feeling green, definitely worse in the evenings, I can see the light at the end of the first trimester tunnel!
Best Moment of the Week: We had an ultrasound this week and got to see a perfectly healthy baby kicking, rolling, and flipping all over the place. I feel so blessed to be given a glimpse into my babies being knitted in secret and watch their little growing bodies. This baby has already stolen my heart as we watched him/her practice thumb sucking and not cooperating with ultrasound techs by moving around too much :)
And just for fun, here's the link for Jefferson at 13 weeks and Wilson at 13 weeks

Piles of crunchy leaves waiting to be jumped in...
Fire pits begging for the chance to roast a marshmallow on a stick...
Chilly evenings snuggled under blankets with mugs of apple cider...
Homemade chicken noodle soup and piping hot fresh bread for dinners...
Candy corn, caramel apples, hot chocolate, and cinnamon bread...
Geese calling out overhead flying south for winter, golden forests, and frosted window panes...
Because fall isn't all about just bracing for winter.
My boys remind me in our nightly, "what are you thankful for," conversations, fall is full of amazing moments and around here, we are embracing the best of fall.
