And His Name Shall Be . . .

Naming a child is one of the most humbling of responsibilities. Knowing that they name you give this new life will stick with him for all his years on earth makes it a bit daunting.

I can only imagine what must be going through the mind of parents who named their sons “Adolph” in the 1930s or Katrina just a few years ago. Then, of course, there are those who can’t figure out what to name their children and end up coming up with something like “Abcde” (pronounced ab‑sid‑ee). One could end up on the other side picking an obscure name, only to find out that millions of other parents pick the same name for their son or daughter (I think there may be a few baby Baracks in the next few years).

So there are a lot external circumstances that can seemingly disrupt the most careful of namers. There is, however, one thing that I believe won’t change – a names meaning.

After much thought and prayer, we came up with a name, but before we announce it, let me tell you what it means.

Our son’s first name means: “strong and manly”; “courageous one”
A Bible verse associated with this name is Proverbs 24:5- “A wise man is strong, And a man of knowledge increases power.” (NASB)

Our son’s middle name means: “Bright in counsel”; “excellent worth”
A Bible verse associated with this name is 1 John 4:13- “By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.” (NASB)

Without further ado, Our Little Clark’s name is . . .
