Madison's 6th Birthday Interview
Madison has been preparing for this interview like a professional, practicing her well versed responses to the memorized questions, and rehearsing her body language and expressions like a royal giving an official interview. She has asked nearly every day for the past month if it was time for her birthday interview, as doing it early and often will achieve the desired level of celebratory preparation in her worldview.
So without further ado, her royal highness' official six year old birthday interview...
*Sits with ankles crossed, hands folded neatly in her lap, gently nods her head to signal I may begin*
What is your favorite color: pink
What is your favorite thing to play with: My new wooden doll, Shoshannah (a Russian nesting doll she named) and my More Baby
What is your favorite thing to eat for lunch: Strawberries. I think there may be something more, maybe pepperoni. But mainly just strawberries.
What is your favorite thing to wear: Dresses. I like my flower dresses best, and my rainbow one, but I really do like all dresses.
What is your favorite thing to play outside: Playing sand in the the sandbox. I like to build castles, sometimes we don't have water to shape them but I still like to play in the sand.
What is your favorite holiday: What is a holiday again? Oh yes, my birthday!
What is your favorite thing to sleep with: More Baby; you already knew I was going to say that didn't you?!
What is your favorite thing to watch on TV: All princess things, Fancy Nancy, Mira Royal Detective, and Spirit
What is your favorite movie: Rapunzle and Belle (Tangled and Beauty and the Beast)
What do you want to be when you grow up: A swim lessoner (a swim instructor), a ballet teacher, and a princess at Disney World. I'd like to be Rapunzle the most.
What is your favorite game: Princess Match game is my favorite but I really like Pretty, Pretty, Princess too
What is your favorite fruit: Strawberries!!! I do like blackberries, but mostly strawberries!
Who is your best friend: My family! My brothers God gave me. All my best friends are my best friends. God gave me the best family.
What is your favorite song: *sings* Who the Son sets free, is free indeed! I'm a child of God, yes I am!
What is your favorite animal: *leans forward like she might whisper then proceeds to gleefully and loudly proclaim* Flamingos! They are my favorite real animal! My favorite not real animal is unicorns!
What is your favorite drink: Milk, Sunshine smoothies (sunrise sunset smoothie at Tropical Smoothie Cafe), slurpees, sprite, root beer, grape juice, and coffee with foam
What is your favorite book: Fancy Nancy books, all of them!
What is your favorite special treat: Chocolate cups (a tea cup shaped from chocolate and filled with creme), I haven't tried it yet but I always like it even if I never tried it! Ice cream with sprinkles and chocolate chip cookie dough.
If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go: Disney World (said in a total "Duh!" tone) I want to ride all the rides again, Ariel was my favorite and I want to keep doing it! I love eating the Mickey waffles there and play in the pool with the slide at the first place (Animal Kingdom lodge).
What is your birthday meal: Strawberries, corn on the cob, circle sausage, and bacon, crispy not chewy. Then chocolate cups for dessert!
What is your favorite Bible verse: John 3:16 I like the words because it means God gave His only Son for me. He didn’t want us to die and be apart from Him. He loved us and made a way for us to be with Him and we love Him! And He forgives our sins, even if we sin again He forgives us and will always love us.
What is your favorite account in the Bible: The one where Jesus died on the cross and then rose from the dead! I also like Esther because she was a girl who became a queen.
Dear Madison, our bit of pink, our sparkle, our true princess with a heart that is full of Jesus' love and joy for life and others, a very Happy Birthday!
The moment you were laid on my chest and your dark eyes met mine is forever seared into my heart. In that moment I was forever lost in the wonder that is having a daughter. I'm so thankful God designed you to be a part of our family.
If Aslan were to coronate you he would title you, Queen Madison the Joyful and as you like to pretend you would rule quite contentedly and well beloved in Cair Paravel, dancing with the naiads and dryads all your days.
You love oatmeal and Brazil nuts, you love picking flowers and chasing butterflies. You have the loudest and most high pitched shriek when you're excited. Almost every emotion makes you cry, this is a foreign response for me as I rarely cry. If you're super happy, you cry, if you're scared or sad, you cry, if you're mad, excited, overwhelmed, confused, giddy, you cry. You can be sassy yet sensitive. You are fierce yet gentle.
You love God with all your being and always go to Him first with every thanks and every request. You've told us before that you've woken during the night from a thunderstorm or a bad dream and you just talked to God and asked Him to protect you and you knew you were safe. You love all things princess, all things sparkly, and ask incessantly to go on "girl shopping trips". But you are well rounded in that you love a good competition, love to play in the mud, get dirty in the garden, play basketball, have target practice, and use power tools.
We see amazing talents and gifts God has woven into your being and pray for His wisdom and guidance in your life as you continue to grow and mature in Him. We are honored to be your parents and have this time in your life watching you grow into a beautiful young woman. We are so proud of the choices you make, the character you are developing, and the lady you are becoming.
Happy 6th Birthday Princess!
We love you!
